Denial of Service (DoS) Testing
Controlled, pre-agreed testing to confirm your defences keep services available when placed under load or attack.
What is Denial of Service testing?
Denial of Service testing checks whether your systems and the controls protecting them can stay available when placed under heavy load or a deliberate flood of traffic. The aim is to validate that your protections actually work, not simply that they are switched on. All DoS testing is controlled and agreed with you in advance, with scope, timing and limits set before any activity begins.
What we test
- Resilience under load: whether key services remain reachable and responsive when pressure is applied.
- Mitigation controls: whether rate limiting, traffic filtering and upstream DoS protections engage as intended.
- Failure behaviour: how systems degrade, recover and alert when capacity is exceeded.
- Single points of failure: components whose loss would take a service offline.
Who needs it
Organisations that depend on the availability of public-facing or business-critical services, and those that have invested in DoS protection and want assurance it performs as expected.
What the process looks like
We begin by scoping the test with you, agreeing targets, timing, thresholds and a clear stop point. We then carry out the controlled testing while monitoring impact closely. You receive a clear report describing what we found, how your defences responded and prioritised remediation for any weaknesses.
